The Role
The ER Officer is responsible for managing all employee relations matters to ensure a harmonious, compliant, and productive work environment. This role requires strong knowledge of Malaysian labour laws, effective communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally. The ideal candidate is analytical, impartial, and experienced in dealing with ER cases within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Full spectrum of ER-related tasks, including disciplinary matters, staff counselling, grievance handling, labour disputes, domestic inquiries, termination processes, and other employee relations procedures, in compliance with labour laws.
- Conduct investigations on misconduct, harassment, or policy breaches in a structured and impartial manner, as well as provide sound recommendations.
- Liaise with government bodies (e.g., JTK, IR Department) and ensure adherence to labour laws and company policies.
- Prepare and manage related documentation such as warning letters, disciplinary reports, and update disciplinary track record.
- Provide guidance and training to supervisors on handling employee relations and compliance matters.
- Support the HR Section Head in employee welfare programs and support initiatives that promote engagement and morale.
- Support the process and delivery of employee training and development programs to build internal capabilities.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in an HR or industrial relations role, preferably within a manufacturing or similar industry.
- Experience conducting domestic inquiries and representing cases at the IR/Labour Court.
- Thorough understanding of Malaysian labour laws, regulations and collective bargaining agreements
- Excellent negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
