The Role 

The Molding Supervisor oversees daily operations in the plastic injection molding department, ensuring high-quality production and consistent workmanship. Responsibilities include planning and organizing daily work processes, managing mold setups and machine operations, training and coordinating operators, monitoring performance, maintaining equipment and materials, enforcing safety and company standards, and implementing process improvements to optimize efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize daily work processes to ensure production of high-quality products and workmanship.
  • Prepare the work area and ensure the correct tools, molds, and equipment are arranged for each specific job.
  • Oversee proper set-up of machinery and equipment to meet product specifications and quality standards.
  • Assign, train, and coordinate operators after mold set-up and ensure set-up approvals are obtained from the Quality Department.
  • Train operators on correct machine handling, operational functions, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
  • Ensure operators perform tasks according to relevant SOPs and conduct self-inspections to verify compliance with product quality and workmanship standards.
  • Guarantee that operators are provided with sufficient and appropriate materials at all times.
  • Foster quality awareness among operators and continuously improve their working attitude and commitment to quality standards.
  • Monitor operator performance regularly, provide feedback, and take corrective action if performance does not meet expectations.
  • Lead the training, development, and skill enhancement of operators to boost productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Enforce company rules, regulations, and discipline within the team.
  • Compile and report accurate daily production records to superiors.
  • Manage Operator, tools and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained and reporting any damage promptly.
  • Monitor consumable stock levels and report shortages in a timely manner, considering lead times.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all moulding-related activities.
  • Oversee proper packing, labelling, and identification of finished goods.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness in the production area at all times.
  • Raise material requisitions for required materials and parts, maintaining proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with superiors to discuss ideas and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote and enforce safe working methods, ensuring operators adhere to safety protocols and addressing any unsafe behaviour.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or superior.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic injection molding operations.
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding machines and related processes.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and manage long or extended working hours.
  • Flexible and willing to support overtime as required.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  • Willing and able to work in shifts.

Qualifications 

  • Possess a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Engineering.
