The Role
The SMT Technician is responsible for maintaining, improving, and monitoring the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production process. This role involves equipment setup, troubleshooting, process optimization, and data analysis to ensure stable production output and continuous improvement in product quality.
Key Responsibilities

Possess full knowledge of all relevant SMT equipment, including:

Train new and existing technicians in SMT processes.

Document and maintain optimum SMT parameter settings.

Design, document, and implement systems for process checking and monitoring.

Improve and maintain SMT jigs and fixtures.
-
Analyze and improve SMT PPM yield performance.
-
Prepare and submit weekly SMT performance analysis reports.

Train SPC operators on:

Analyze SPC data and recommend corrective actions when out-of-control conditions occur.

Conduct daily monitoring of dry cabinets, fridges, and thermo-hygrographs.

Handle and follow up on Corrective Action Requests (CAR) related to SMT.

Ensure proper filing and record retention of production documents.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Process Engineer.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of SMT process setup, troubleshooting, and parameter optimization.

Familiar with SPC data analysis and reporting.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks effectively.

Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.
Qualifications

Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar environment; OR
-
Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
