The Role 

The Molding Mold Setter is responsible for executing the Equipment Quality Maintenance (EQM) plan, ensuring all molding tools, fixtures, equipment, and machines are properly set up, maintained, and operating at optimal efficiency. This role plays a key part in supporting smooth molding production, minimizing downtime, and ensuring high-quality workmanship.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in injection molding setup, machine maintenance, and troubleshooting, with a proactive attitude toward process improvement and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute EQM activities for all molding tools, fixtures, machines, and equipment.
  • Plan and organize mold setup and production activities to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure all molding machines and equipment are maintained at peak performance and availability.
  • Attend to equipment or mold breakdowns and carry out professional repair work promptly.
  • Liaise with the Production Supervisor to coordinate maintenance and minimize downtime.
  • Report equipment breakdowns and spare part requirements daily to the superior.
  • Propose and verify improvement plans for production tools, fixtures, and machines.
  • Maintain and adjust machine parameters to ensure product quality and process stability.
  • Perform layout and setup activities for new or modified molds.
  • Provide backup support to other technicians when manpower is limited.
  • Discuss and share improvement ideas with the superior to enhance production efficiency.
  • Train operators on the proper handling and safe operation of machines and tools.
  • Ensure safe working methods are practiced at all times and correct unsafe behavior immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or superior.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in injection molding setup or mold maintenance.
  • Knowledge of molding machine operation, parameter setting, and troubleshooting.
  • Able to read and understand technical and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiar with electronics or plastic injection molding processes.
  • Capable of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) – an added advantage.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Qualifications 

  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Safety-conscious and disciplined with a hands-on technical background.
  • Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.
