The Role
The Quality Molding Engineer is responsible for ensuring product and process quality in the molding operation by establishing quality and inspection plans, monitoring process performance, and leading corrective actions. The role also supports FMEA, Cpk, MSA, FAI, trial runs, machine/tool validation and compliance with applicable quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine all necessary product / process and customer requirement into inspection standard and Quality Plan
- Prepare Quality Plan or Inspection Plan and determine require process control in the line.
- Review the effectiveness of control plan and quality plan to ensure acceptable quality levels of the produced product at different stages of production.
- Participate FMEA activities during new product Introduction and review when necessary.
- Conduct capability studies (Cpk) of processes, manufacturing equipment and tools including measurement system analysis.
- Lead corrective action activity in molding to analyze customer complaint and returned product.
- Involve in machine, fixture and tool validation process (where applicable) before use in production.
- Monitor and analyze molding product quality, quality gate trends and initiate appropriate action to resolve the problems with relevant departments.
- Participate in sample run and trial run of new products to ensure that product quality requirements are fulfilled and report problems encountered to the team.
- Performs First Article sample inspection according to customer requirements and prepare standard First Article Report and properly trace the FAI/Trial run progress.
- Conduct measurement system analysis (MSA) on related measuring and/or inspection equipment.
- Identify and address recurring quality issues related to product performance.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform statistical process control study on related processes or products (where applicable)
- Any other duties assigned by superior.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar quality/manufacturing environment.
- Good knowledge of molding processes and quality control.
- Experience in Quality Plan, Inspection Plan and Control Plan.
- Experience in FMEA, Cpk, MSA/GR&R and SPC.
- Experience in FAI, sample run and trial run activities.
- Strong problem-solving and corrective action skills, including customer complaints.
- Experience in machine, fixture and tool validation.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering Discipline with 2 years’ experience in a similar environment; or
- Diploma in Engineering Discipline with 5 years’ experience in a similar environment
