The Role
As an SMT Engineer, you will develop and optimize SMT and Wave Soldering processes to improve product quality, yield, and productivity. You will support manufacturing operations, troubleshoot process issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing / modifying new and existing PCBA process to improve yield, quality and output.
- Troubles shoot all SMT and Wave Soldering related problem to sustain or improve yield, quality and productivity.
- Provide support for carrying out process capabilities studies (CPK) on all existing or new process / machine and formulated plan to improve the capabilities.
- Responsible for evaluating new equipment to improve process capability.
- To mechanizes / automate production process to improve output and quality.
- Provide technical assistance to other department and product Engineer is diagnosing manufacturing quality for corrective actions.
- Provides support and oversee and activities of the technician.
- Responsible for maintenance of the SMT and Wave Soldering software and hardware.
- Documents and maintain all software archive in server.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Process Engineer.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and Wave Soldering processes.
- Experience in PCBA manufacturing and process optimization.
- Knowledge of Process Capability (CPK), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Root Cause Analysis.
- Hands-on experience with SMT equipment and manufacturing process improvement.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering with 4 year working experience in similar environment.
- Diploma in Manufacturing with 6 years working experience in similar environment.
